Previously a Flower Barn, the EVLT Conservation Center was imagined to be a the Eagle Valley Land Trust's center of operations. The original construction consists of an incredible timber structure, from the walls to the rafters. This gave the building a sense of character that we wanted to maintain. We kept its essence while incorporating a modern design.
I was involved with the drafting of plans along with consultant coordination from Schematic Design through our final issuance. I was also given the opportunity to design the entry door. My intention was to give the building a worthy entry, something that would give the user a glimpse of what they are to expect. I utilized a mix of black materials to make the entrance contrast from the existing timber structure. Imbedded within the frame is etched glass that portrays the Eagle River, which flows only a few hundred feet from our site.
